Because im English and all the English places that sell Half Life 2 just sell Half Life 2 full stop where as there is supposed to be different versions such as single player only. Is the single player only American or what. :rolling:

Um, they haven't really told retailers about thsoe yet, since it isn't anytime soon before it gets released.

If you wan't the singleplayer version you're gonna have to wait til closer to the release before retailers put it up on their lists.

Not really. The Americans can't spell, and they get trousers mixed up with pants :P

you mean... there are actually gonna be trousers in hl2??? OMG!!!!!!!1111!!!

whaddabout elevators?

;)

I hear the german version is different (less violence), does anybody know if this applies to other countries as well?

Doubtful. German censors are notoriously conservative. And let's face it Half-Life may be realistic, but it's not Soldier of Fortune or Vice City. Although in Britain the original NOLF got an 18 certificate, which was surprising, and probably contributed, in part, to its poor sales. In the US, HL1 was an M, so expect the same for HL2.

I remember that, whatever did NOLF do to warrant an 18?

Kate Archer's skirt too short??? I really don't know. It was fun, but not overly agressive imho

I actually e-mailed the BBFC about that and they gave an answer about realistic weapons and realistic people. But something with that doesn't quite add up. Ok, you could crossbow/harpoon people and have the bolt still protruding from their corpses, and then there were the phospherous bullets, but other that that it wasn't particularly gory at all. Personally, I don't really think it warranted an 18. <Sighs>

I think they'll change the english version so all the elivators will be lifts, aparments will be flats, and men in drag will be a corner stone of the humor.

Just a little friendly ribbing for our friends across the pond :)

There was a fair bit of (British ;)) swearing too, but I don't think it'd warrant an 18 on its own. Possibly a combination.

Actually, we can spell... well, most of us can.

Some just could really give a shit less about spelling :p.

Well you've perverted our English language so that you spell the word "color" instead of "colour"; "apologize" instead of "apologise" etc.

Actually you did it to make it easier and so you could feel seperate from the British. I don't think Webster said "God, the English Language is gay, I'll change it".

Actually, we spell it 'Aluminum' and pronounce it as such. And 'gas' is short for gasoline. What's the big deal?

Ummmmm The US version will be English. What'd you think it will be in, Chinese????? :P :P :P

ok im British and i think the Americans are our closest friends especially now with the war on terrorism and iraq and stuff ;( ;( I love you guys.

I don't like the way everyone in Australia says pants now. They're ****ing trousers, America is invading our culture like the plague and it's WRONG, not necessarily because American culture sucks (I think it does but that's my opinion) but because Australia is a great country and we have our own history and culture which is being forgotten.

BlackWolf, I'll give you the terrorism one, but not the Iraq one. The whole reason there is conflict in Iraq is America decided they knew what was best. And America LIED to our countries to get us on board.

"Yeah um...see this dot? yeah, it's a chemical weapons plant for sure."
"Oh yeah, saddam's totally in on it with Osama."
"Wait..there's no WMDs? Oh well...the UN can't touch us."

Freedom Fries wtf?

Yes I am bitter.

edit: Censorship pisses me off too I was sooo mad that Vice City was edited. Mainly because the games industry is dominated by over 18s yet the ratings board decided only recently that it was youth dominated and therefore they wouldn't add an R18+ rating.

Dude, im australian, so what if people call them pants instead of trousers? pants doesnt sound dorky. Besides i seem to interpret trousers very similar to overalls, and overalls i associate with rednecks. Im just saying

Anyway I dont think australia has ever had a problem with censorship being too strict

Pants are Underwear.
Your interpretation of trousers is odd to say the least.

Not having an adult rating for games when the industry is adult dominated is ridiculous.

Uuuhh I think weve got a bit of a world war in here. Well in my eyes every country has got its good and bad points.

*Locked*

For obvious reasons, we'll have no my country is better than yours in here, do that in Off-topic if you "must"
