I hav see a increase in ads of videogames
and stuff like this http://www.gamespot.com/news/6162586.html

but I dont consider that such a bad thing however my worries if that if all the companyes go like EA games and making pure crap and focusing 90% on ads
so instead of see emos listeing to emo music we will see emos playing emo games and stuff like that
and when someone comes whit a good idea it will be spoted and ordered to do something to match the "market"

one example is clover studio closure,I dont why it was closed but possibly it was cuz they focused on inovative games and stuff like that

I even reads stuff around there about "games becoming the new MTV" and sudenly more videogames show showing videogames info about crappy games like "scarface" and people thinking its the most awsome stuff ever and buying only that
so the worry is about that, more crappy game and less good ones and games becoming a "fashion accesory", looking on E! what was the new game x crappy star played and stuff like that

however I really think that couldnt happen, after all very good games get very good sales

Even with MTV, we still have HBO. There will be room for innovative games, but I definitely feel the way you do, and I sincerely hope mainstream gaming doesn't become another MTV.

We're halfway there already what with EA, Vivendi, Lucasarts and sequel-mania for better and for worse. Thank god there's Telltale Games, VALVe, Remedy, Illusion Softworks and Rockstar Games (Political Correctness needs a good solid boot straight up the sphincter) to keep things new and original for us.

^ Amen

I don't mind if for instance they put in games real brands of products, but within reasonable limits. If they start putting for example Coke bottles in a FPS with a story that takes place 1000 years from now, well there goes the immersion:laugh: .

What scares me is how much money it now takes to make a decent game that can sell. Indie developers don't have a chance, unless they mod existing engines.

I place my faith in the future of the games industry in Valve.

Well yeah, a lot of dev teams now use existing engines, mod it and agree to give a part of the earnings to the engine owner (aka Valve :p).

Swat 4 had/has ads that you can get rid of just by adding the ad server to your hosts file. Probably works the same with other games.
