Predictions and discussion

I predict (or I'd like) Hollow Moon and KZMod (Kreedz Climbing) to get mentions in the most innovative department. As far as "Upcoming mods" I'd go for (in no particular order) Kreedz Climbing, Project: Hull Breach, Black Mesa, Neotokyo and Fortress Forever. There are others that spring to mind, but they are further off from a release.

The competition has been much maligned in the past for giving awards to mods that aren't complete over established viable contenders. The voting process has also been criticised for turning the competition into a mere popularity contest. This year there is a separate category for 'upcoming mods' and another set of awards given by staff of the Mod Database, independant of public opinion. Voting is also open to the public (not only ModDB members), with each non-registered individual receiving one vote per IP address.

In 2004 Red Orchestra (having now gained retail game status and released on Steam) pipped Sven Co-Op to the post, winning the award for Best Mod. Sven showed that Co-Op gameplay had abeen forgotten for too long and still had a place in gamers' hearts, so much so that its Source version (yet to surface) was voted upcoming Mod to look forward to in 2005. Well, we're still waiting, but in the meantime some late releases could grab some very late votes for a surprise result. Will Move In claim an award this year, or will its late appearance and release bugs prevent it from securing a big enough share of the votes?

We can only wait...

I like the idea of a awards show... but its done by moddb so its automatically "meh".

I wish I could make it to the show, but I have to work :(

SourceForts was luck enough to win number 13... Pun intended.. :D
