my first ep: Derelic7 - Czechnologie - 25 minutes of IDM and ambient!

IDM

I'm in the middle of a WoW raid right now, so I'll give it a listen later, but I expect good shit. =D

BTW thanks for introducing me to Ableton. I really like it, and it's good to pick up all my old VST's again. Managed to sync it up with Reason and it's pretty sweet.

IDM= experimental electronic music
Ambient = atmospheric soundscapes

:P

Alright absinthe, have fun with your raid man. youve heard the ambient pieces before though so dont expect too much :P

I liked them though. Some reminded me of SAW2.

Thanks man, that's one hell of a comparison! :o (better point out that SAW2 = selected ambient works 2 by aphex twin, not the movie)
i really like them too. ambient is generally tons of fun to make, and it tends to sound far better than my attempts at any kind of composition :D

I'm not particularly fond of 2 and 3 to be honest, but I loved 1, 4, and 5. 1 was short but a great intro to the next tune. 5 was mysterious and reminded me of Xen for some reason. Absolutely awesome. 4 was brilliant and my favorite. Amazing. I really liked the song. Do you mind if I use 4 for a short cartoon I'm making right now? I'll put you in the credits and all :E

CrazyHarij, this is a work of a mastermind. Every single track, by itself, is amazing. Altogether, they make an outstanding work of art. These tracks grab the very essence of IDM and runs with it. From the sounds, to the BPS, to the rhythm -- everything is beautifully done. Every single track is going on my Vision:M for later listening and onto my iTunes as I type.

Track 2 and 3 would have to be my favorites.

Downloading now.

Sounds like it'll be right up my alley.

I really like the cover art too.

I downloaded it because it's by CrazyHarij, and he'd probably go on another banning spree if I didn't.

I know nothing of this type of music at all, so I wouldn't be much of a reviewer, however I thought it was quite good.

Wow. This is very good. The comparison with Selected Ambient Works is merited also. I'd pay money for this. Without sounding like I'm kissing too much ass, you're as good as most of the artists on WARP records.

No problem at all mate, i just hope it's in flash because I've used that myself (making crappy stick movies) and it rules! :D

It's cool that you felt that way about track 5, I did go for a type of Zen-feel, was kind of inspired by that actually. Like another dimension, part-void, part surreal scenery.

Geogaddi: Wow that's stretching it a bit, even though warp generally sucks ;) just kidding. Christ man, it kind of gives me some perspective on the music, i'm just amazed that you think its that good.

Qonfused: Thanks a bunch, I am very very flattered that you liked it and even consider it mp3 playlist worthy!

I'd suppose this means I'm either doing something right or the fact that I happen to have access to a banstick really ****s with peoples' judgement. :p
anyway, your words really made my day, and above all gave me back the much needed incentive to keep working on my music :)

Just listened to the first couple tracks, gonna hafta listen to the rest later. Not usually a genre I associate myself with, but this is really cool stuff. I can't offer much critique since I don't really have a decent frame of reference, but it does sound really solid and pro. Also, being a drummer, I can say the percussive parts are really ace, especially the distorted drumming about 3 mins into track 2 :thumbs:

Good stuff, Crazy.

One complaint: It seems like the drums are pretty weak in your more active tracks. Maybe it's my own audio setup, but they seem buried beneath all the synths and lack "oomph". Might be an EQ issue, might be a simple mixing issue. I will say it seems to be one of the more persistent issue throughout a lot of your music. I noticed I used to have similar issues with certain stereo setups, where it would sound fine during the composition, but sound flat when played elsewhere. Touch that up a bit and you're good to go. :)

I wanna reccomend a VST, since I think you might get a kick out of it. It's a drum synthesis plug-in. Takes some getting used to, but the payoff is worth it. Not only is it a decent 909/808 stand-in, but you can twist it to do some crazy shit, getting some real messed up drums or even sparse percussion effects.

Give it a shot. You might find some use for it.

Here's two examples. Ableton sadly ****s up my CPU load, so I can't do much with tracks except the bare bones. But you get the idea.

That is some pretty good stuff you've got there. I'm not a reliable critic on IDM or ambience, but to my untrained ears, it was a really enjoyable listen. The drums on the first couple of tracks were a little weak on my horrible, horrible 2.0 system, but other than that, there's just little things I would personally change.

I'll listen through a few times tomorrow, and get me some second opinions. But good show :D

Amazing. I can't believe how good you are.

I loved every track. Track 2 was especially cool, and track 4 and 5 I listened to as I was looking at the Missing Information mod thread (a mod that ports/recreates creatures/levels/weapons/ideas that were cut from HL2) and it gave me this really creeped out, nostalgic type feeling, simply amazing man, you are a god. I thank you for this.
