My theory on Synths

I'm not sure if this should be in rumors and speculations but here goes

The combine you see on earth are the overwatch combine. The combine take humans and combine them with thier technology to create the overwatch. The striders, mortar synths (ones in the citadel you posted about)striders, gunships and dropships are all synths. Presumably, the combine took the inhabitants of previouse planets and combined them with thier technology to create the synths you see in game. They bring them over from that planet to assist in thier takeover of earth. These are like the overwatch from different planets. It's a good guess that you could find overwatch on other planets like how you find the synths from other planets on ours.

I know the first part with the overwatch has been explained before but I have yet to see the rest of my theory anywhere else. Link me if i'm wrong.

Oh and this is a quote from another post where I was explaining the synths to somebody so it may seem like in some parts, i'm addressing things already noted.

That sounds like a good speculation, I hope we learn more about the Synths in exp packs, looking foward to them!

Well, they talk about Synths pretty often, a new thread every week or so, I think. Your theory is good, though but this theory has been claimed before. (I can't remeber who ) Still, nice figuring it all out urself :thumbs:

That the Overwatch themselves are synths? I'd like to know who posted this, much to be discussed!

Oh and other dude who posted that this is in RTB, could you please quote the book directly? I visited a site dedicated to all things HL2 and they went into great detail about the synths and overwatch, including that original combine are sluglike, but not once did they mention my theory, and i'm guessing the guy manning the site has RTB.

I know i've heard others talk about the Overwatch being synths as well, because I share in that belief. The Combine take over a planet, combine their technology with that of the races they took over, and use them to take over other planets. In that same vein of thinking, the Alien Grunts in HL1 were also synths. Which makes the Vortigaunts the Xen versions of Stalkers, I guess.
