New game- dead

just bought HL2 GOTY last weekend.
kept crashing during install, but finally did that.
then steam died, which was fixed by connecting to the internet.
then it updated
Now, everytime i try to load the game, my computer reboots.

Have you checked inside your case lately? Make sure there's no dust clumpages or failed fans, if not, good to rule it out from the get-go...

Is there probelms with the Radeon 9800 and Half-Life 2? I'm pretty certain a friend of mine used to play Half-Life 2 fine with a Radeon 9800, although now he has a GeForce 7800 :sniper:

I've heard there's restart problems with the GeForce 6200. TechnoHippyChic, you need to post your system spec when you have technical problems - it's tech support rule #1.
