Cerebral Effect, a slighty new Sci-Fi mod, is now hiring through public forums and the like. Here is a snipet of our backstory, just to give you an idea at what we're aiming at.

Memory Grafting and Super Soldier test lead our hero to become burdened by the memories and the mind of a former Black Operations Soldier. Who forces him to break out of the Prision in which they lie and seek revenge upon the Corporation which stole his life and his memories.

This vengeance journeys throughout the Slums of a Megacity, to the Towers which dominate it's skyline. All the while the voice of a long dead Soldier leads, taunts and guides you; in firefights or just whose music taste is superior.

Here is one of our first concepts of the Prison Guard:

Note: The gun is just a placeholder and we're still changing the mask around.

-Posistions Needed-
Cerebral Effect needs a dedicated coder, versed in Half Life 2 Source coding techniques.

At the moment Cerebral is in its infancy, plot structures and resource Art are being compiled, and the team needs a Coder to guide us through the capabilities of Source code for Half Life 2 and its SDK. Apart from some possible vehicle coding, a position on the CE Team would be basically:

* Attack / Weapon systems: Weapons Stats (simple weapon modding.
* Nano-Tech and Health systems.
* Help with implementing the HUD
* Anything else to do with coding a mod in general

We also have posistions open as a Modler, Texture Artist and Musician.

Please note: If appling, could you attach / mention previous work in the field you are appling for.

Any applications can either be:

urgh i dont liek that concept one bit. is that the only work you have to show to lure people into this mod or do you have more.

They've only just started. At the minute there's only a few team members, but as far as I know they've got the (great) story pretty much done.

is that like todler?

i dont see what makes this any different to all the other mods like this and also the story sounds fairly similar to the bourne identity. also are those few members they have concept artists because that picture is very poor im sorry but its true. it completely puts me off the mod. i think youll have better luck if you actualy remove the picture. its nothing to be proud of. again im sorry.

Well the whole story would take too long and would be too confusing on paper to explain.
It's not the same as Bourne Identity, as you literally have something talking to you.

As Gonzo said we're trying more to get the story into a playable sense, besides the Guard image was our first drawing done for the Mod and one of the other members tried to color it and make it look better, which I think he has.

At the moment most of the art produced is just for us to fiddle around and get a better understanding of what things could / would look like.

The workers who are doing work on it at the moment are not fully expirenced in mod making, this is my first and well, I can't draw ect, It's still OK concept when you get deep though

It is a decent concept, but it lacks creativity. Don't take this as an attack, this is just my opinion, but what seperates that concept from any other sci-fi mod/game I have ever seen? There is a serious lack of originality in the Mod community right now. If you want to seperate yourselves from the pack, you need to show originality. Unless you are going for a "revisionist" mod, one that will make the player rethink what they consider to be "sci-fi", you should be prepared for people to ask tough questions about the substance behind your mod.

If you want to ensure that people know your mod has substance, I would suggest that you come up with some very nice, original concepts before posting any media, at all. Take a look at FORSAKEN. Yes, they have lots of media, but they are reluctant to release anything before it is what they consider "perfect". And they have been around for over a year now (I think they are in beta-testing right now). They would never release media that is less than perfect, and because of that, they have a strong community that *literally* drools over the next media release.

So, this is just my advice for you, and any other mod for that matter.

sorry mate didnt realise you did it. well need a hand with stuff coding etc give me an email.

Static: Yer i was tossing up between putting one up and not, if i didn't i wold have got the age old "where are pictures!" rant.

The story I have, in mind is sort of Epic, at the moment sure we do sound a little un-original but i just want to be able to have a small team together,a well rounded one, before planning things into the Mod which would be impossible to make...

Okay, cool. Sounds like you guys have a nice team together. I will watch this one:)
