New PC Amazing!

Hi guys and gals!

I juss upgraded my system the other day. I have not upgraded since 2003... and whoaaa mommma! I went with a pentium duo core 2.4, 2 gigs of ram, asus p5b-e mother board, and the nvidia 8800 GTS-OC. I havnt seen a game that wont run maxed out..

I juss wanted to say that its amazing how far PC gaming has really come, i mean when u think back to the grand daddy of gaming... PONG. Now where blasting aliens on alternate universes.

I'm wondering.. anybody else own a 8800 gts or gtx? I would like to know if they reached a limit with a game.. on that card.

Yeah Console freaks, did you hear what this man is saying?

I own 2 8800GTX in SLI Mode and, there are no limits at the moment for these cards. Maxed FEAR, FarCry and now Q4 and never below 120FPS. Everything maxed; with my native resolution and, still these cards have room to breathe.

The best looking and most graphically intense game is undoubtedly S.T.A.L.K.E.R. I have an 8800gtx (stock speeds) and it has its slow moments. Not significantly though, this card runs this game very playable at max detail @ 1280x1024. I have an e6300 running at 3.3ghz, which also plays a role in this.

I just bought essentially the same computer as you last week. Episode 1 at 16xQAA and 16xAA is amazing, not to mention finally being able to have HDR in other games now.

Interesting to know how much RAM on the GPU games these days can use (depending on settings of course). Of course some of these (quake 4, maybe stalker) have the highest quality setting to really take advantage of 512MB cards.

Those cards are really cranking out the FPS with todays games. I have a feeling we won't have any games to really challenge the performance of current cards for a long time. Crysis probably being the exception but we don't know when that is coming out exactly.

Lol and STALKER. Have you actually tried running it on full dynamic? My 1950xt wasn't fast enough for it (probably lack of vram, only 256) so I bought an 8800gtx

Yeah, that is probably another exception.
Maybe I should reword that and say that most of the games that look graphic intensive which I'm looking forward to seem to be coming later. Not too many around the time Nvidia had their 8800 cards launched.
