New steam?

Is the new steam being put up today? or are they just takin out the beta, and implementing the new one tommorow?

No, you have to download a new installer and sign up for a new username because the database will be reset.

Also, in order to play any Valve games for multiplayer from then on, you'll need to use Steam to do it instead of the old in-game system HL has used in the past. In other words, you'll need a CD key from a Valve product handy. It doesn't have to be HL, it can be CS retail, Opposing Force, or Blue Shift.

Don't go uninstalling the BETA version yet. The new installer may just update the current version of Steam that we have, seeing as it has 8 months of game updates.

I already have my half life CD key so i'm pretty set.

Too bad I couldn't get a new computer to play HL2 on. I will someday but my 1ghz pc will do for now :|
