No one so far has been able to solve this HL2 directx problem :-(

Ive just bought a radeon 9700 pro to replace my old geforce4 ti4600 card. However when playing Half life 2 it only runs the game in hardware directx 8.1 mode by default. I have reinstalled half life 2 thinking it may be becuase the game was installed before the card change however this has not resolved the problem. I also have the latest Catalyst driver installed. The game was installed before I changed the card though since ive uninstalled it.

Other things ive tried are;

*Using Omega drivers instead

*Using Driver cleaner pro to make sure all old Nvidia files are removed

*Uinstalled all my video drivers, and the half life game and installed all again from scratch


Nothing has worked, im pulling my hair out guys! I just want to play half life 2 with all them directx 9 fancymopants working :-(

Can anyone solve this problem?

open steam/games/ right click on HL2 / properties / Launch options and then put -dxlevel 90
