physbox and occluders

occluders dont seem to currently work with this physbox i created. anyway i can change that?
 
i see. so there isnt an alternative to occluders? even if it is a brush based entity?
 
None for the specific purpose of occluding brush geometry. The closest match is an areaportal/areaportalwindow.
 
ok i got another concern about my physbox. i started messing with the lighting and i looked at one of the physboxes (ill call them crates). the crate has shadows relative to where the light is. so the right side is brighter than the left because the light is on the right side. when i pick it up and move it, the shadows still remain the same. how do i make it so that the shadows that it recieves are real time?

im guessing i have to mess with the textures vmt.
