Problem after attempted pre-load

I pre-purchased the Orange Box last night with no problem. I then went to my games, right-clicked on TF2 and selected pre-load. After I clicked it, steam totally locked up. I killed it in Task Manager and reloaded it, and now about every 30 seconds after I log in steam totally locks up each time, and in task manager its showing its using 50% processing power (I have a dual-core). Any suggestions other than a complete reinstall? On that note, if I reinstall Steam do I have to reinstall all steam related games?
