Problem when changing video settings...

Hi, recently dl the demo to see if my inspiron 700m could handle it, luckily it does, but when i go to "video" and try to change any setting, click ok or apply, the game crashes with the annoyting memory read error that everyone seems to get. Is there a way to change the video settings manually? or someway to fix that problem? THanks

Steam > Play Games > Half-Life 2 (or whatever) > Properties > Launch Options

... then put something in there that I can't remember! (does a search)


-width [pixels] -height [pixels] will allow you to change resolution. There is probably a command that allows you to reset the settings to their defaults though
