It would seem that the PC version of R6: Vegas has been leaked a few days ahead of it's Tuesday release date. I, for one, think it serves UBIsoft right. They don't seem to give a damn at all about their PC fans. I can't remember the last time a mod even said anything on the official forums. It's like they completely abandoned them, except to get info on where screens and video were released so that they could have them taken down. Can't have anyone seeing what it actually looks like, right?

While I'm not providing links, it's not hard to find it if you want it. Seems this may be the only "demo" we'll be getting, since UBI haven't said shit about if there even will be a demo. This, along with the way SCDA for PC was treated have me thoroughly enraged at UBI. I will not buy their products if they're going to treat the PC community like crap.

BTW, here's a link to some unofficial screens. Better look at them before UBI pulls them.

No surprise here. Virtually every bigger game gets leaked to the net days before release.

It wasn't even announced that Vegas has gone gold. So is it really comming out in two days? And yeah, there is barely any information on the PC version. What the hell?

YAY!!! it's not ghetto looking like Lockdown was...

/me remembers Ravenshield

I'm doubting it's going to be as good as Raven Shield, but I'm certainly hoping it's better than Lockdown. Still, this is a port when it should have been worked on specifically for PC. There was supposedly a PC-specific version in the works at one point but it got canned in favor of a port.

ty for the info...
no prob

Oh, and with everyone on the whole F*ck EA thing, I'd personally like to say F*ck UBI... they have deleted every thread with info that's popped up on their forums but have yet to say anything at all. Obviously the mods and devs are there, they're just too chickenshit and stupid to communicate.

absolutely...and SM 3 card = required to play Vegas

sux..

damn right..just like SP:DA..

and SP:DA doesnt look all that good

Thankfully I have a SM 3.0 card, but yes, this is ridiculous.

Has anything been said about UT2K7 being SM 3.0 only?

And yes, SCDA had nothing that seemed to be beyond SM 2.0. As far as I understand SM 3.0 is only supposed to help it run faster and allow for some extended shaders, but no new effects, really. And SCDA didn't look a whole lot better than SCCT.

Those screenshots somehow look worst than the xbox360 shots, no?

Hang on, their site says it's available now. What leak are we talking about?

They do, and there's no real support for widescreen resolutions, which is ridiculous. There's also no 1280x1024, which is a fairly standard resolution.

Supposedly the textures have been increased slightly from the X360 version, but the game runs like a beast, even though it doesn't seem to look that good. Sounds like another SCDA to me. And this is exactly the reason I will try this before I even think of buying it. And since there's no demo in the forseeable future, that gives me only one option.

I hope UBI makes no money off of this PC version. I'd rather them stop making games altogether for PC than simply turn out shitty ports.

I hate that they're going to use the lack of a demo and any PC media to fool people into buying it on faith alone.

The torrent of the full version that was put up yesterday.

its not really a big news m8, all titles get released on p2p 1-week before their official date.

Oh, I know it's not big news really, but I wanted to let people know that there was an option they had to actually try the game before they buy it, since there is a media blackout about it.

And a mod finally posted on the Vegas PC forums for the first time in weeks just to say the screenshots and videos were taken down there because they're from pirated software. Sadly, that's all the PC media that's come out.

I've played it on the 360 (albeit on a standard telly), and to be honest its scaling down to a normal resolution is awful, text is pretty much unreadable and the game is really blurry. It still looks blurry to me in those screenshots.

Man that's why people seriously need to start upgrading to HDTV's once they get a next-gen console...

It's blasphemous if you run something like an X360 or PS3 on a SDTV :( Puts the games to shame.

Anyways, no surprise it was leaked, and no surprise that it's SM3.0 only. Again, Ubi is starting to push new standards and if they allowed older SM's to run, then it would be so much more work on Ubi's part and it would delay the game, and cost more money to make...

The SM3.0 card market is a lot smaller (pretty much GeForce 6X00 and up, and Radeon x1X00 or whatever and up) and is a lot easier to work with those cards and you can do a lot less unit testing. It's the price you pay for using PC's :-\

Due to piracy, devs aren't putting as much time into PC games as they should. For example, id Software said their next title might even come out on consoles first and PC second which is a HUGE change from what they've done since they've always been a PC-centric developer. However, it's so hard on PC's cause not only do you have to pay more to work with more hardware, but you also have millions lost in piracy.

Piracy is so bad for the industry and nobody even realizes it... Everyone is always like "oh, well nobody cares if I download this game, nobody will miss the cash" but people do, and it sucks.

I don;t typically advocate piracy for games, but I do in this situation. UBI has brought this on themselves by not showing an ounce of respect for the PC community other than quickly slapping together a port. I think people should have the right to at least see a product before they buy it, but UBI hasn't even allowed or produced any PC screens, let alone videos or a demo. While I still say people should buy the game if they intend to play it, they also shouldn't have to pay $50 to find out that the game is either utter shit or doesn't work on their computer. Or both, in a worst case scenario.

Agreed, pisses me off when they release it on a console first, especially when it's an original PC game.

It's no surprise that the next generation are taking over the market at this point. They are a new technology with all the bells and wistles. But give pc games another couple of years and they'll be on top again.

After Vista, Ubi will be PC's b*tch again. Until then, we get shafted and we'll just have to shaft right back.

Both of those aren't really valid points to advocate piracy.

Right now, PC development sucks. There's no if's and's or but's about it. It's expensive to code and test on all of the different possible hardware configurations out there. Adding piracy on top of that REALLY makes a cut in Ubi's profits and just shows them that PC isn't the best development because of high cost and low return.

I'm so doubtful that anyone who pirates this game will go out and buy the game. I'm sure that people will play through the single-player, maybe find a way to play some MP with friends over hamachi or something (who also probably didn't buy the copy), and then never think twice about it. If you were really true with your argument, you would play maybe a level to make sure it works or see if you like the controls or how they set up the game for the platform, and then decide if you will buy it.

It's sort of like going into a steak restaurant, and then eating the entire steak and then complaining to the management afterwards about it. If you only took a bite or two and then complained, then it would be alright and you could get a refund. Which means, only play a level or two and decide to buy it. Don't play the entire game and then say "Nah, I'm not going to buy it. There's no point now."

The thing is, is that sure developers can be "lazy" and not focus 100% towards PC... The truth is, is that people ALWAYS pirate the game, don't thnk twice and once they have the game they see no point in buying it. There is a reason why developers are starting to move towards consoles. Right now we are seeing a scary shift because of the pirates out there who don't think that what they are doing hurts.

I mean id Software and Valve Software are going to be putting titles out on consoles and they haven't started doing that since the last generation, where P2P and other technologies really took off. Consoles are the best platform, not because of the mechanics of the console, but a big reason is that it's harder to pirate.

If all of a sudden one day, nobody pirated games, you would see a huge swarm of developers switch back into developing for PC's. Again though, like I've said before it's really a Catch-22 situation.

It'll be somewhat easier to develop for PC once the user base transitions to DX10. Cap bits for the lose.

Never been a big R6 fan, but I'm very very angry at Ubisft at the moment, so I'll push in my bitchy oar.
Splinter Cell Double Agent for the PC seems as if it hasn't even been play-tested. I'm stunned that Ubisoft:
a) feel they can get away with putting such an obviously un-finished product on sale
b) haven't put out a proper patch yet. They put a v1.0 --> v1.01 patch out within a day or two of the release, but that didn't solve a damn thing.
Suffice it to say, I'm more than a little bit pissed off at Ubisoft for this.

Yes it will become easier, which will lower the costs, but unfortunately there will still be a big loss in returns still. Microsoft is putting a lot of effort in bringing back the PC market, so we'll see how they do and if they can revive the market.

I'm just hoping everyone will do their part and not pirate so much... Unfortunately, I'm probably just talking to the wall right now since I doubt anyone will change their behavior cause of my doom and gloom speeches :monkee:

Ubisoft must be the worst company at porting games. Ever.

They've practically abandoned PC's.

Look - just because an industry "refuses" to alter its business models to keep pace with the rest of the changing world does not give anyone the right to start breaking the law.

Let's boil your feelings down to a simple statement:

"It's OK to steal from a business when one doesn't like the way that business operates."

Does that make any sense at all? The reality is that, if you want to change the way things are, you have to play the game according to the rules. And you can't justify your bad behavior by pointing to someone else's, either.

Your outlook, which is, unfortunately, a fairly common one, can be turned into a generic kind of formula:

"It's OK to [action] [victim] when one doesn't like the way [victim] [action]."

Like this:

"It's OK to kill a pedestrian when one doesn't like the way that pedestrian dresses."

"It's OK to punch children when one doesn't like the way children behave."

Yeah - these are extreme examples, but they're built on your reasoning.

Think about that.

Some of you guys are taking a disgusting attitude.

yes I will.....

I saved over $200 in the last few days by killing my conscience.

God bless New Zealand for not giving us sufficient enough monthly bandwidth to be tempted by pirating ^_^

?†nema, the average budget for a commercial game these days is over 10 million USD I believe, thinking that it's okay to without the creators OK, take that, without giving anything in return, is an absurd thought.
I think if you spent 10,000,000 dollars on something, you'd be pretty pissed too if people couldn't even give you 50$ for what you've done.:)
