Could someone explain the different types of ram to me and their benefits? Thanks...

there are three Main types of ram today
Pc2100 (133 mhz, 266 mhz ddr)
pc2700 (166 mhz, 333 mhz ddr)
and the most popular
pc3200 (200 mhz, 400 mhz ddr)

now what you want to buy is basically the fastest your motherboard supports
My motherboard supports memory of ddr400 or under, so i bought pc3200.
unless your motherboard doesnt support ddr400 ram, then id buy it right now, its your best bet. But of cource.
This is of cource. Assuming your buying AMD, If not then someone needs to fill in where i left off, cause i know intel supports alot of goodies such as ddr2.

apparently DDR2 comes with alot higher latencies than DDR.
it seems that PC3200 is better than PC4000, so its not worth DDR2 unless your getting PC4600 or the next one up.

if im not mistaken, the 3200 refers to the memory being able to handle 3200MB per second (i think bandwidth or so)

pc4000 is great once you start overclocking. My pc3200 is really holding my pc back at the mo - tight timings are nice, but not that nice.
