RTS Mod "Lambda Wars" Rebranded, Heads To Steam Greenlight & MOTY

Update: Lambda Wars has officially been added to Steam after being Greenlit on January 7th 2014! Congratulations to the team. Unfortunately, the mod did not make it into the Top 10 Mod of the Year winners for 2013, better luck next year!

Lambda Wars, the long in development real-time strategy Source modification for Half-Life 2, was recently added to Steam Greenlight after being re-branded from its previous title, "Half-Life 2: Wars". The mod, which is being developed by ex-HalfLife2.net writer Ennui, amongst others, first surfaced in 2009 before receiving a significant amount of attention and praise from the community over the years.

This praise has continued in recent weeks, as after just over two weeks on Steam Greenlight, Lambda Wars has become the second highest rated game on the system with over 17,000 positive votes. If you're looking to support Lambda Wars, we recommend checking out the game's Steam Greenlight page to support the team directly. The development team is also looking for community support to promote the game on ModDB, where they hope to be in with a chance of winning the annual "Mod of the Year" award, something the team has disappointingly missed out on by a whisker in both 2008 and 2010.

So what's it about then?

Well, you could read the news post, or the ModDB description, or the Greenlight description, or the description on the website, but since that's too difficult: it's an RTS mod for Half-Life 2. Fully multiplayer with lots of maps for up to 8 players, play style similar to a cross between Starcraft and Company of Heroes.

There are also a few single player missions with more on the way, but currently they are "one off" missions and there is no overarching story (although we have been discussing a small SP campaign of connected missions).
