Slug creature

How would I rig a skeleton for a slug-like creature that expands and contracts? Can bones to that or do I need something special?

Thats possible and hl2 supports that. They are called procedural bones you may have a look in the online wiki of hl2 i think i saw there an article about that topic. Another question is how you handle uv distortion on your model :D
 
Ah, good call. I hadn't thought of that yet. I was just hoping that the texture would be "baked" onto the polygon and would distort with it.
