FX-53 uses Socket 940.
939 is soon. I would say June. First Socket 754's 3700+, then A64 3500+ and 3800+ on Socket 939.
939 A64 CPUs will have dual channel memory compared to single channel.
The mainstream A64 3x00+ series on Socket 939 will have half of the cache as it does on Socket 754. No biggy...look at 3200+ vs 3000+. Same clock, half the cache, almost the same performance.
512kb L2 cache vs 1mb L2 cache but the dual channel will more than make up for it (especially on games and other apps).
E.I.
A 3700+ on Socket 754 would have 1mb L2 cache and single channel memory.
A 3800+ is that exact CPU except on Socket 939 with 512kb L2 cache and a dual channel memory controller.
They increased the model number based on performance increases with the dual channel memory.
nForce3 250 is the board to keep your eye on.
Made both for Socket 754 and Socket 939.
