SoftimageXSI on 3DWorld coverdisc

If this has been discussed already, my apologies :)

I picked up 3D World Magazine today from WHSmith and the coverdisc is the SoftimageXSI EXP for Hl2 (pc only)

It contains 7 tutorials (pdf) on the CD too, and next months issue 28/05/04 will contain an 'exclusive' tutorial in the mag.

It's a bit pricey though, £6.00 :eek:

I think you can get the same tutorial from the official website of softimage.

AND ITS FREE.

1. The tutorial on the website is not an actual tutorial. I found this out the hard way.

2. You have no way of knowing if the tutorial on the disc is the one from the website or not.
 
It's seven pdf files listed as:

Getting Started
Interface
Modelling
Deformation
Lighting
Low Level
Texturing

I don't know if these are the same tutorials from the site though.

There are post-its at the start of them that stress the tutorials are based on Softimage XSI v.3, and may not be entirely accurate to apply to the hl2 EXP.
 
3. there are only 4 video "tutorials"(used very loosely) on the website (not 7 as the thread starter was saying)...

oh yeah, those tutorial pdf's are on the website, thought you meant the videos.
