Sony PS3 Steam

Seems like a good idea... I enjoy the on-demand gaming that steam gives me, but I'm not too sure about how well Sony will implement it considering it's SOE division performance. Screw in-game advertisements however... i mean wtf we just shelled out 20-50 bucks for your game, then they want to charge us monthly for subscription services, and after all that we get pop-ups...

Not really news to me but something about that article makes me think.

Part of it sounds like they are trying to be sure you have bought Part 1 in order to play part 2.

I use tekken becuase it fits my example, not becuase it is - or is not comming out for PS3. I have no idea. For example and only for example:

It may require you to own Tekken 5 in order to be able to download or purchace from retail; the expansion game Tekken 6.

Expansions. Nothing new, but these are pretty new to consoles.

But often when they make a new version like say Tekken 6 it would just be so much better than Tekken 5 and thus there is no point in buying Tekken 5 if Tekken 6 was just on the horizon.

So with this online stuff Sony is talking about ...

This way they encourage gamers like me who may say,"whats the point in buying this game now, its been out for a while and It's a little stale, in a few more months they are going to be releasing the sequel", to buy the game and not hold out.

(Since you have to own the first to be able to play the new one...)

Okay whatever.

God these console guys are getting good at getting every ****ing nickel and dime they can get out of you.

I don't know where the hell you got that idea, but that's not what they're doing. They're just going to release shorter, cheaper games (or episodes) as opposed to longer more expensive ones. In the long run it allows them to leech more money off you and have quicker turn around times. It also provides a steady flow of content, it's the same thing Valve is doing.

And no, using your system to buy Tekken 5 now without owning the older ones could cost well over a hundread bucks. That's just stupid, they're not doing that.
