In a Q&A with Playbill magazine, Mel Brooks says that he's currently working on a Spaceballs sequel. Here's the clip from the interview which starts off by talking about the big screen adaptation of The Producers.

I'd assume that he is doing this based on Episodes 1, 2 and 3. Not the original Star Wars. Chewbacca/Barf weren't in those movies :thumbs:

Heh. Well, hopefully it'll be good. When I first read the title, I was like "Oh god, another terrible director/writer ruining a classic film."

Didn't even pass my mind that Brooks would be doing this one, too. Yay! /me wants to see it

This is the only way I could see this happening.

John Candy is dead. (which sucks)
Rick Moranis has disappeared.
Mel Brooks is too old to be the President of the Spaceballs.

And God knows what happened to the rest of the cast.
