stuck at ant hills

I was playing HL2.
I read the walkthrough, I was supposed to fight "ant king." But somehow I could hear it roar but saw NOTHING except its bodyguards. It's like a nightmare, being mauled and goared and flang by an INVISIBLE giant king with countless soldier ants. Any configuration tweak can help me? Like ai_disable.

Verify cache.

You need to verify your cache to fix that. Right click the game in your 'My Games' list in Steam, click properties, local files, then 'verify integrity of game cache...'

It will fix that problem. Steam does it all for you!

You have to kill the Antlion Guard (Antlion King is an enemy cut from HL2) to get the bugbait. You cannot run away.
