stuck

hi,

im really stuck on ep2 atm here:

i havn't a clue what im supposed to be doing, ive pressed the button on the machine and all i notice is that it opens, ive literally been here for hours but to no avail, the only way i have discovered of getting out of this building is piling objects up and jumping out the window, still then i cant figure out what to do, any help would be greatly appreciated.
