Half Life 2 was not even close to the orginal. The first game was somewhat difficult to solve the creature and puzzles. Storyline in this version was so weak. Where are the surprises??.....

HL2 was barely a challenge.

Next time, how about a real storyline, a few surprises and some challenge.

Blah!

I hear this alot. I noticed the game defaults to easy upon install. I wonder how many people changed it when they started playing.

So the difficulty automatically determines the overall quality?

And the storyline weak? Try paying attention the next time.

And what the hell are you doing on a fansite when you don't like the game? Not only posting on it, but registering to post on it that you don't like it. What the hell? You don't see me going to forums of games I don't like, then register, and post some pittiful rant why.

Now, begone troll.

I set combat on the second setting. However the combat was not really the major issue. HL1 had a few tricky solutions and some major surprises. HL2 just fell flat unfortunately in this regard.

Only once did I find the path slightly challenging.

Sigh....soooo disappointed.

What do you mean "Where are the surpises?" There was a number of plot twists in there.

The story is amazing, it's there just you don't get characters telling you it's there.

How can people say it wasn't a challenge?? It was hard as hell for me. Just play it on hard if it was easy you fools..

so you didn't like the game... what do you want us to do about it? :|

I have to agree, the so called "puzzles" were not-existant. This is a big fan of HL2 and Valve speaking, I love the game dearly, but I expected more of a challenge.

i totally agree with your opinions because i too found it somewhat weaker and less engrossing than the original.

HL2 has got a storyline in it (or so they tell us) but it is not a match for the originals superior storyline, story telling, and its enthusiasm and energy.

HL2 is much weaker and less clear and less effective. it deviates too much from the original half-life 's fast paced raw action and it is not as brutal and therefore does not give the adraniline ride that the first one did.

it is not a matter of whether u play it on hard or easy. the game is just not as good as the original.

Well you set it to normal. What did you expect? Try hard next time.
That's not what he is talking about.

I've got one word for you, sequel.

With half life's success, Valve holds all the cards. That Valve have decided to span the story over HL2 and 3 shouldn't really be a surprise. They have the cash cow, now they're gonna milk it.

The fact that there are many questions left after HL2 is to be expected, the story simply hasn't finished.

I just hope they don't pull a Wachowski.

Well of course it won't be the same pace and all that! I mean if valve wanted to keep the same gameplay, it would do horrible... Don't believe me? Look at Doom3.... They made sure it had the same gameplay as the other Doom's did because they thought everyone would love that, but of course everyone got so bored because "been there, done that"

HL2 is more of mysterious kinda I guess where you are trying to figure out wtf is going on and such.

No plot twists? Play the game again and make sure you don't just keep running, but look around and pay attention to the world.... There are tons of little things you get to know if you just were patient.

I thought the physics puzzles were cool (no jumping ones thank god) and all I just wish there would ahve been more of them.

Really you gotta take your time through the world, if you try to pretend it's HL1 and try to just run and gun and just blow through everything you won't pick up a lot of things and you will probably think the game is crap. Just be patient and all of a sudden you pick up all these new things :D (kinda like the move, the Big Lebowski)

Valve can hold the cards, I'll keep my wallet in my pocket next time. At least until the real reviews are published on the projected HL3. If I wanted to only run and gun I would play Doom.

Valve wants my money, I want a game with a serious storyline.

I believe that half life has an excellent story. I'd even argue that it's nothing but a story with a FPS tacked on. However, since it's spread out over what will eventually (I'm guessing) be a trillogy, we simply can't see it yet.

Wow, "HL2 doesn't have a storyline"
Dumb idea of the year ...

What did you want? Myst? (hehe, lol, etc ...)

Seriously tho, I have a friend who just ran through everything and wondered where the story was. D'oh. Unsurprisingly, running around like a headless chicken doesn't give you much of a chance to realise what's going on (I pointed out that perhaps reading the signs/posters may help)

It's a game that dosent shovel the story into your face.

It's more they give you subtle hints and you have to think about it.
