The 'HOW TO INSTALL GE:S' thread

Too many people are struggling with this install, including me. Could someone provide an easy, step-by-step set of instructions that tells you what to do?

To install any mod for Half-Life 2 just unzip it into the SourceMods folder in the Steam directory. By default this is located here:

C:\Program Files\Valve\Steam\SteamApps\SourceMods\

Note that all the mods must be in their respective directories, so in the SourceMods folder there should be a "goldeneye" folder with all the mod files, i.e. C:\Program Files\Valve\Steam\SteamApps\SourceMods\goldeneye\

Any other mod you wish to install also goes there. Once its in there, it will appear in your steam games list. It's a very straightforward and easy process that's sadly not explained very clearly, leading to confusion

You may have to restart steam.
