Well, it is.

Anyways, I'd like to start a long, horribly written rant, the only real good points which are that i'll invite you, that's you, the reader/forum-goer, to share a rant that is sorta like mine, after I'm done. Also I won't use 1337 sp34k.

Ok, I've got a computer. So what, you may think. Well, this computer is hell.

I mean it.

I got it somewhere in April 2003. Yes, i know i deserve the horrible horrible flak for the only upgrade to the computer ever to be a shiney new graphics card (GeForce FX5700, wheee!...) a couple of months ago, but i digress.

Somewhere along the line my computer got clogged up with this gigantic amount of programs that enable on start-up, programs that don't enable on start-up but do enable when the programs on start-up start-up, programs that crash my computer 1/4 times, programs that crash my computer on start up, spyware, and porn.

Anyway, about 4 days ago i decided to backup all my data and reformat my computer. Wipe it clean, wipe it pure, of anything and everything, then put back the stuff i want. Good idea, right?

Right.

The problem was implementing it. It took 2 days to back up the data, (because I'm 13 years old and it's school holidays and therefore i have a gigantic amount of asssignments and crap to do), enduring all the random crashes and reboots that plagued the computer, then took it to my cousin's house where he and i could take the computer apart and put it back together again.

We reformatted the computer. No incident. We booted up the computer. No incident. We Plugged in the Microsoft Keyboard and Mouse.

Big incident.

The entire computer went haywire, failing to detect any and all drives, in addition to being able to boot up the bios, even with the other keyboard and mouse. In the end we left it off for an hour, came back, stuck in the other keyboard and mouse, and miraculously it worked. We breathed a sigh of relief and got back to sticking everything back inside.

Then we packed it up and brought it home again. My cousin went home, leaving me to set up the computer. Ok, i hear you think. You must have screwed it up here, you cry. And you're right! I plugged the monitor in and suddenly the computer started beeping like crazy and the monitor wouldn't work.. I turned off the power, turned on the power, and tried again. Beepbeepbeepbeep! went the computer. So i opened up the side and looked at it when it started up. And my Shiney New GeForce FX5700's fan wasn't working.

I took it out and put in the old card. Nothing. Fan not working. Out of order. Whatever. I took that out and put in the new card. Nothing. Zilch. Zero. We (Me and dad) did this over and over again, for a night, trying to work out where the **** we went wrong.

Nothing.

So this afternoon i called my cousin over back from work and asked him to help me with the computer. He said 'Sure'. As you do. He turned up around 7pm and looked at the computer a bit, poking around, muttering something about 'never having seen this before' and 'spirits of darkness, i summon thee...' and then fiddled a little with the graphics card. Then he saw the USB cable and glanced at it.

'The cable's out' he said, pointing.

We looked, and the cable was indeed out.

'That's probably got nothing to do with your graphics card, but we'll see' says he, sticking his hand in and moving it around. He puts it in, and turns the computer on. And it's working now! Yay, we all cry, Yipee! Dad because now he won't have to go out and buy a new one, Me because I can now play the damned thing, and my cousin because he can go and have his dinner now.

So, yeah. The computer. Better than a console because it costs obnoxiously lots, it takes 5 minutes to go from off to playing, there's no guarantee that whatever you buy will work on your system, you can get a massive array of bugs and crashes and whatnot, and it's out of date in about a month. Yeah.

Thanks for reading. Go ahead and post your horrible sagas of owning computers. Please. I don't want to feel alone.

Wow pretty uninteresting story sadly, but good job with eventually fixing it.

My worse computer moment....erm getting Half-life 2 on release day putting it in, and my dvd drive breaking lol, i was so angry. It was actually broken, no dvds worked, neither any programmes blocking it or making images of the disc etc.

So i bought on steam, sold dvd version for £2 profit! Bought a new dvd-rw drive now, so im happy. But that night i was emailing Eric Johnson i think his name is at valve, and he was helping me all night, great guy.

My rant is more about the internet, this is about l33t speak and phone/text/lazy typing.

Now typos don't bother me in the slightest, its just when "ppl talk liek this lols"
or "I ALWAYS TPYE IN CAPS BECAUSE IM AN ASSHOLE!!!!!111"

You have a whole keyboard of letters, its not costing you anything to use them, just type things properly ya goddamn newb.

(Sorry its been a long (8.30am-5.00am) day yesterday and I am angry and tired.)

Is it friday today?

Edit: Shit! goddamn it, I seriously thought it was friday, lucky I don't have a job.

The PC is at once the best and the worst gaming platform on the planet.

On holidays my mind just deletes the sense of days. One long gaming spree is what my life becomes :p
