I think its interesting what lots of people think about who the G-Man is. They might think he Gordon from the future, his father or even the keeper of time. but what if he was much more low down than that. The way he talks about things at the end of HL2 makes it sound like he's just being paid for what Gordon does (or will do). I think he may be training Gordon to become and interstellar, interdimensional mercenary/hitman. I think that he might be like an agent for Gordon, finding him jobs and keeping the profit for himself. I dont think there would be much profit destroying Black Mesa or helping a rebellion. So i think Black Mesa was like a tryout session where the best killer became his hitman and the runner-up (Cpl. Shepard) was kept on ice as a backup. That would mean that Hl2 was sort of an advanced training session for Gordon before he became a contract killer. So HL3 could be just Gordon and the G-Man being paid to fight for interstellar beings (although i do not intirley belive this because i think Valve will bring back other characters from HL2).

I think its Gabe Newell (sp?) in game... just a suspicion.
