Updating Half Life 2 takes ages

I've just bought half life 2 off of steam but when i click to play on it it starts updating and says it's ready to play in 268 minutes. I really want to play on it so why does it take so long.

My updates take about three seconds, and I kave 250 kbps

lol just update it dude after this update it will take only 3 secs to start it

It's because you have to download all the game files.

It'll take quite a while, and the speed fluctuates so it could even take longer, but it's worth it.

Give it a night to DL.

Because you have to download halflife2 which is 5 gigabytes. The best thing to do is leave it download overnight.

Yeh, well, when you have to download a huge game over the Internet, you really shouldn't expect it to take 5 minutes... the files are several gigabytes
