I was reading an article about HL2, which you can find here... http://pc.ign.com/articles/526/526399p1.html, and found something interesting.....
(If it's been posted before, feel free to flame)

I didn't know the Vortigaunts could talk??? :rolling:
Has valve confirmed that the Vortigaunts will be able to communicate with humas?.. if so, please direct me to the interview/e-mail.

yes they can and......OMFG!!! I CAN TALK!!!! WOW HOLY SHIT!!! LATER GUYS I GOTTA GO TELL MY PARENTS!
 
All I know is that they will be your allies during the game, so some rudementary communication skills can be expected :)

They spoke in HL1. They just werent very good at it.

Yeah, and they ran away from my might shotgun. Plus on Hard they were so annoying, they charged up so fast, damn buggers can't wait to work along with them. Electrecute them all. HA HA HA. (I'm tired, I remble)

Yeah, plus talk all they want, Gordon is just going to use the point the finger system, he can't tell them what to do, now can he.
 
RJMC, that was great, I can just picture Ely petting the vortigaunt in the head, "go get the cheese"
 
I'm wondering, you know, if we'll be finding out exactly how the Vortigaunts and Scientists reconciled... I mean, the Vorts were running around frying scientists at BMRF, even if they probably didn't have any free will at the time...

Maybe Eli had something to do with it? He seems to be in charge...
 
Remember - Vortigaunts were slaves, controlled telepathically by Nihilanth or his Controller buddies. Therefore, we could control them too (if we had the knowledge how to).

They don't look like slaves now. I reckon it had something to do with the collars (notice that they have a handle on them?), and the one visible in the E3 2004 vid isn't wearing one...
 
What's been said so far is that they're greatful for being free'd, and in their gratitude offered their services (I donno but I believe they couldn't go home, to Xen, if that even was their home in the first place) to the scientists, mostly because of Hordon Spreeman I guess.

Edit: Good find Brian D. I noticed that too.
 
Maybe the Vortigaunts will betray the humans in the end of the game. "Now, let's...bzzzzz...what...bzzzzzz. Godgammit, are you...bzzzzz."
 
Lou already did an alien voice in the movie Enemy Mine. By the way he sounded in that movie they won't talk perfect english but a bit scrambeled yet understandable.

Well, you know, the voice actor could be making the "Oort Oort" when the transported. But it'll be interesting to hear them speak.

"Gordon (Using translator\english to vortigauntish): WOooROoorrtsudqknmquU! (I'D LIKE SOME CHEESE! BRING ON THE CHEEEEEEEESE)
Voritgaunt: Eeeeemndujdfude (Damn humans.)

Personally, I'm looking forward to the level where you give them eloqution lessons in a My Fair Lady stylee. That'd be the best Easter Egg...
Another thing I'd love to see is a Vortigaunt with a weapon. I know they can shoot electricity which is sufficient but a Vortigaunt with a shotgun would look hella cool. Yes yes oh yay.
 
prolly they where saying in hl1 is "HELP i`m enslaved by these guys becouse of their collars" too bad my shotgun isn`t that sharp at hearing stuff :angel:

ya know.. this gave me an idea.. perhaps for one of those weekly contests here or maybe just for the fan art section.

i was thinking maybe those of us interested can make a cool paraody of what HL2 will be? :E
it would definitely be a fun read.. and its any good.. maybe we'll email it to Gabe for a reaction.. :P
 
At least we know that the zombies can talk. When Gordon "lights 'em up" they say. "Oh my god!"
 
Zombies are weak, i wanna see a vortiguant run up and shock the hell outta one of them...

They could always talk! except there natural language is Japanese, they always say Konichiwa! you know what im talking about !!!
