Vortigaunts can talk?

If I can remember correctly(LOL, what a joke that is) didint vorts already say small phrases in the original? I thought I could remember them saying stuff like "DIE".

Kinda reminds me of the Anchorman trailer where he's talking to the dog.

"Die" was the clearest.

I transcribed what they seemed to be saying at one point, the thread's in the Rumours and Speculation forum...
 
I swear I never payed attention to those sounds they made, I was too pumped up with shotty in hand(pumped up..hehe get it) chasing after them to know what they were saying...
 
The only thing that surprised me is how accurate they were.

If you were on an open area, it doesn't matter how fast you were running or jumping at the same time, they would still shock you, I don't think they ever missed with me

Some of the Nihilanth's lines don't actually seem to be used in the game itself, I hear...

Yeah, I noticed that. I've been taking more of a "Two strikes and I point it out in front of the entire forums and make you look like a fool"-type approach, lately...

That does not mean that they can talk, it might be those sounds aliens make, but used human voices to make it.

I'm sort of with you. I think they'll speak but it'll be very rudimentary - short phrases at best. Certainly it ought to be in their old voice and they shouldn't be very articulate, but then how would they communicate with people? After all, Eli seemed to be talking to one, and one apparently let Alyx know Gordon had arrived...
 
Yeah the actor will be just screaming stuff into a mic. look at Chewbacca in Starwars, he never said much just grunted and screamed.

Even so its cool on the HL2 video when you see those ones zapping that err dunno, wall. Then the one that is order to buzz that thing in the er...thing.
 
I just know that at some point during the game, a vortigaunt will surprise me by sneaking up behind me and saying "Mr. Freeman..." and I'll be like "Ahhh!" and turn around with my shotgun and blow him away. Then I'll be like "Oops" and Ely will be like "Shit...not again...I told them to not sneak up on people with loaded shotguns. This happens at least once a week...It's not your fault Gordon." :angel:
 
I couldn't hear them over all the chaos and the fact that they were electrocuting me.
 
How much would the voice actors get paid for shouting random unintelligent things into a mic to create the alien speech.... i wonder???

I dont this should be interesting but in the sound files are some soundsfile called "word1" and "word2" so maybe they talk whit a language
 
I use the halflife model viewer and open a pak and the sound files appear
