who is this guy? *possible spoilers*

I been a fan of the Half-Life series since when the game first came out in the 90's, but there's one thing I never really understanded. There's this one character who seem to appear in most HL related products so, even though this might sound crazy and stupid, I think he actually extremely important to the storyline.

Waht roel you think this guy have in the HL universe? I have some ideas, like maybe he planned the commando attacks to the Black Jesa comples in the first game? Maybe he also a friend of aliens BUT enemy to the vartigeunts: remenber they communicate and become friends with the player after you kill the space spider at the end of "sandtraps" in HL2. Before that, the vourtigans (one of them) just tryed to kill you with green laser early on in the game in the champter "route canal". I also think he might be the final boss in the upcoming Episode 3, because they have to reveal the identity of this character at some point!! There's also a possibbility that this character might have collaborated with other villains in HL, for example Dr. Brain in HL2. Here's a picture of the character who I'm talking about:

He really has no importance in the series at all, and is only there to distract people from the big picture. I think you're right about him being the boss in Episode 3, though.
