That's right, ladies and gentlemen- it's here. The High definition pack has been released, and it will make Half-Life and it's subsequent Expansion Packs all new and shiny. To install it, click this link while steam is running: [br] steam://installaddon/halflifehd [br] If you load up Half-Life after doing so, the High-Definition pack will install. In a similiar manner, click this link to uninstall the HD pack: [br] steam://removeaddon/halflifehd

[br]

[br]The Steam Update also contains the following;
  • Added Half-Life: Blue Shift game and desktop icon
  • Fixed HTML control sometimes drawing incorrect scrollbar
  • Updated required driver versions for Source games.
[br] To read the whole update, click here.

This is very surreal. You click the install link, load the game, HD pack. Quit the game, click the uninstall link, start the game. No HD pack. Then click the install link, start the game, and the HD stuff is back.

Magic!

this is great. ive been needing this since i started replaying blue shift.

btw, its an honor to be quoted by you sixthree

does not update my hl etc :(
restart steam, then click the link

edit: is it me, or do you run way too fast in blue shift. much faster than i remember.

OMG

Amazing graphics!!!!!!!!!!11111

Can this be used in HL:S too? Or at least made to work with HL:S?

Restart steam, then click the link, then play Half-Life. It wasn't working for me at first, then I just restarted steam, then it worked.

I think the Gman changes too much. It's more detailed, but I think I like the old looks better.

I noticed that you run fast compared to HL2 based games. Don't know if its faster though. Use your walk more.

These look really great. My favorite has to be the snark spawns: It looks like some kind of blobby nest-thing from Natural Selection.

OM GEE teh puzLES R 2 HART IN BLOO SHIT LOL.

Great but it's still buggy. The elevator keeps draining my health half way through and kills the scientists (although they blame me.)

I guess it's related to the bug I have where I keep getting stuck in elevators and doors.

half life wont start for me now...I get a black screen.

edit- nvm...a simple validation fixed the problem..

as someone else asked, what about HL Source. Does it apply to that also or not. Im guessing no.

I don't think so, Smigit. You can always try, but I seriously doubt it.

Why doesn't it apply to HL: S when that is supposed to be the graphically enhanced version? That's a bit annoying. I imagine they will release another patch to make it apply... hopefully.

What I personally don't get is why they slapped together a new system and made it optional. Who would want to play with the old models anyway?

It's a little more work to bring it to HLS, remember. There's ragdolls and cubemaps to worry about, and probably some other stuff too.

Weirdest installation thingie I've ever seen to be honest... :)

Yeah option install is going to be a sucky move in the long run. The update will get lost in the steam FAQ back pages. Would be good to have the option somewhere to make it easier for ppl to locate.

also sad it doesnt work with source

cool none the less but.

I wish they had some kind of installation process that lets you pick what HD models to use. It'd be good for me since I have a couple of mods that I like that won't work with the HD-pack (due to it's missing animations).

I think the HD pack is generally great. However, the absolutely aweful POS beretta model they replaced the half-descent glock pistol with is just vomit enducing to a beretta lover like myself. ick. why did they take such care and accuracy with the m4 and replacement shotty but put that sucker in there?

The running speed in HL1 & it's mods is much faster than HL2. HL1 was more like the running speed in Doom!! I guess since then things have reached a more realistic pace!

I'm glad you pointed that out though - Before HL2 came out I posted on here asking about the running speed in HL2. I was concerned that it was going to be blisteringly fast & therefore unrealistic as in HL1 & most FPS's that came before it. The replies came saying that it would be the same as HL1 which was a good running speed!! For who I thought? Linford Christie?!!

I can barely play the original Half-Life games anymore, the speed gives me headaches.

hey i still dont get it..why does it say page cannot be displayed?...so what i just play game and keep that up and badda boom its there?

I wish Gordon's view would move around a little while sprinting :(
