I'll finally be able to see what the F-ZeroX expansion looked like.

141. Blast Corps

Def going to be picking up a revolution!

This is my main motivation to buy the Revolution.

So many games for free.

Oh man, Blast Corps. That rocks.

Hell yeah, that game was so difficult for me, for some reason, I loved it though.

OH **** YES! SIN AND PUNISHMENT! FUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK YES!

For all those wondering, Sin and Punishment is quite possibly the best N64 game (except for OoT) in existance. It's a dark, futuristic rail shooter (think Starfox with teenagers packing major heat) and it has voice acting (in English, and quite good for a cartridge), awesome gameplay, and a great plot (if I remember the plot correctly- it's been a while). For whatever reason, Nintendo declined to bring it to the US, probably because of its Mature rating. But now we get to play it!

(I know this because my cousin had it for his Japanese N64)

Cruise N' USA?!
Oh... god... NO. The HORRIBLE music in that game still haunts me. The theme music was just a guy saying 'yeah yeah, woah woah, woah woah woah woah woah woah" over and over again. ;(

Nintendo sure caught my eye this time!! I think they are doing things right.

Wow. This is so cool :D
Will these games be free to download? (i doubt it) But either way, it's very cool :D
And where will these be saved to? I'm guessing there will be a Hard Drive in the Revolution then?

They haven’t decided if the games will be free yet, and the revolution doesn’t use a hard drive it will use flash memory that u can upgrade. :)

Yay.

Or

/me loads up emulator and plays all the games that i'd want to play anyway...

If only that could compare to playing them on a console with the proper pad.

Emulators are fun - but can't compare to the real thing ;)

Imagine trying to play 4 player Mrio Kart, or Golden Eye, on a pc. It's just not gonna happen.

True, but personally the whole back-catalogue thing is totally unappealing to me. If older games are so good, i'll have them on their original console where playing through them is truely authentic. Revolution is yet to sell itself to me on the games we haven't already played... ie. new games.

Edit: Not to mention that the revolution's back-wards compatability is 'emulation' anyway. A PC could be set up to give satisfying four player games, but frankly that's too much hassle ^^

Killer Instinct Gold... that game is God. Looks like I might be ending up buying all three next-gen consoles after all, especially when Perfect Dark's on that list as well.

Agreed ........ this wouldn't sell the revolution to me on its own. It's still a very cool extra feature. My N64 is now packed up in a box, as is my snes and nes. There have been plenty of times when it'd be nice to check out an old game, but the hassle of connecting everything up gets in the way.

You'll also find there's plenty of peope who didn't own these systems, or all the games on offer. I for one always wanted to play Sin and Punishment - but never got the chance.

It has still got time to prove itself in all areas, of course... pricing is all important from my perspective :D

Also for me this is great as my N64 is in Jersey, while I'm not.

It's a lot less hassle to carry one console.

It's too bad the revolution only comes with 512 megs of flash memory. Frigging low as crap IMO. They need to put a hard drive in.

i dunno, prolly get quite a few games on them considering the size of software back in those days, if i remember correctly some emulated games were around 4-10mb

Haven't read the links yet but keep in mind that those 221 games are from Nintendo ONLY (at least according to gamespot, 3rd parties haven't decided on what to do). Think about when the third parties join up and do the same thing :E Then Rev will be the new winner ;)

Wow... a whole lot of games I've already played.

*Bends over for Nintendo

Yes! I'll buy everything youve already made ALL OVER AGAIN. This should not be a major selling point, at all. You should buy consoles for games that are making new games! A revolution by rehashing every game you've ever played and Zelda? GOOD GOD. I already have every game i'd want to play made by nintendo so, unless there are good NEW games coming out i'm not going to think of buying this. its a good addition, especially if its free, but i mean... who cares. i dont buy a console for 5 seconds of joy i get playing super mario world 3

wow.... nintendo's reaching, and i'm not all that impressed
i mean, it's called ROMs

I don't think you need to pay for anything yet. Maybe for the third party games when they come out, but from what I heard the games are going to be free.

Fair argument. But for a guy like me who missed out on the NES/SNES days, this system feels like a Collectors item (especially since I can't get ROMs to work properly :p ).

Listen to you two whiners :)

This is just a nice extra - of course their will be plenty of new and great games for the Revolution. It just means that if you want to play some 4 player MK you won't have to dig the snes out of the atic. Or what about if you were too young to have played the original Zelda's, and fancy seeing how the series has progressed over the years? Perhaps you couldn't afford one of these titles back in the day, or it wasn't released in your country.

For anyone with a passing interest in Nintendo, or just video gaming in general, having access to all these titles is great :)

Some people really can moan about anything :/

o rly? cause i love playing the chrono trigger and secret of mana roms

That's good - but you'd have enjoyed them more on the original systems.

Plus you're also (usually) restricted to playing on our own with roms, and with either the keyboard or a crappy 3rd party joypad. Old games also don't look that great on a monitor (imo)

Secret of Mana best played with 3 people sitting round a big tv (with snes pads :)) It just looks, plays, and (most importantly) feels better.

my main point in commenting on this at all is that nintendo is still beating around the bush when it comes to revolution, and this is just another example

Some people just don't appreciate the classics tisk tisk. I think the Revolution will do just fine.

i love the classics, i don;t like nintendo's lack of any kind of marketing strategy

I wouldn't call it a lack of marketing strategy, rather just a different one. I mean we've been talking a hell of a lot about Revolution around here haven't we? Whats that say.

They'll likely choose some time in the future to reveal all, instead of E3 like Sony and MS.

Woohoo, the ability to play games I played years ago! This is truly the revolution we have all been waiting for!

Why does everyone think this is what Nintendo has in mind for the revolution?

I think its pretty clear Nintendo just considers this an added bonus. What Nintendo thinks will make this console revolutionary has yet to be revealed.
