Valve are handing out free copies of Half Life 2

I've been reading a couple of threads over at Reddit and other forums that people are receiving free copies of Half Life 2. It really feels like Valve has been trying to highlight the game a bit more than usual. What do you think?

I´ll be there on sunday. I bet they´ll just be handing out free Steam keys like last year but I´ll take some photos.

Apparently, there's a chance you can get HL2 and maybe one of the episodes for free if you already purchased the Orange Box. I have TF2, Portal and all the HL2 things but I bought them separately. I remember at one point getting an extra copy of Portal in the same manner, so I think this is just something Valve periodically does. I wouldn't interpret too much from this.

I got HL2:EP1, was my first game on steam. Then before the summer sale I got Half Life Complete and I remember steam tellin' me I wouldn't be getting more copies of games I already owned But now I got the Ep1.

And why do some people who own Orange Box get that and some don't? Seems fake (or extremely unfair) to me.

It is not fake, if you bought the orange box and you didn't have any of the HL series, you won't get any game (I think)
