Lots of that going on here, the "One True Opinion" of the site is that HL2 is the greatest ever and Valve is god, never seen so many religious fanatics in one place.
Or it's probably an age thing, I would expect most people here to be around 14.
NIBully, you are absolutely right however this fansite is almost religious, you can't critise HL2 or Valve at all without getting severely flamed so it's useless.
Don't send crap like that to a game developer, first of all the game wasn't that good (just pretty graphics and lots of shooting), second all the ridicolous high scores and fan posts will make sure HL3 will be another step away from the real HL world, less feeling and more running and shooting...
I think everyone understands the way a story developes in a game, it's not like watching a movie, of course not, the problem here is that there is no story at all, just vague stuff and hints that lead nowhere.
If your opinion is that this is enough then good for you, looks like most people...
Except you have no idea what they will do in the future.
It will be very tempting when they need more money for development to just say that "well now they got one year so lets charge them again".
The only part of the game that gave any kind of feeling of "being there" was when walking under the bridge and I hear the wind wining and birds are flying off and the train comes and the whole thing is shaking.
To bad HL2 doesnt tell the story at all and we need websites with rumors and speculation to try and understand what happend.
This thread is the clear proof that HL2 didn't tell the story at all, and even after Valve confirms it (if we are to belive they officilally did that) people are still...
I think you people that give this game such high scores need to get some distance to the game, it IS NOT that good !
Come back in six months and don't be so fast to give it such high scores as 9.7-10, ridicolous.
It's about 7 at the most !
Actually, after playing through it, I really don't understand the ridicolously high scores it has received everywhere.
It's like just because it has been talked about for years and years they HAD to give it high scores.
I would say even this is too high but that's my opinion.
I think you confuse CS servers with the actual game, as far as I know there has never been a port of HL1 or CS (the actual game) to Linux.
There is no money to make in this, they would have to spend a LOT of time on porting it and the market is just 1-5% of computer users (and of those how...
..for the best game ever. It had a better story (yes it did) and you got that feeling while playing it while HL2 was running and shooting all the time.
Still a nice game and spectacular graphics but it wasn't the sequel I was hoping for.
Some confusion here, yes there was a "trick" floating around to play it and apparently Valve closed that, however there is still a whole download of HL2 that do NOT require steam at all (or actually hacked steam client) that does NOT call back to Valve at all.
And yes, I have bought the game...
Ok, I see now, "start new game" lets me pickup at the current chapter so I guess that's no too bad, at least I don't have to start over from the beginning.
