So basically your saying he should spend an exorbinate amount of money so he gets a few seconds when the map changes instead of getting a better interaction device that might give him an edge in actually playing the game?
I like your advice most of the time but this time I think he should...
Ahhh, I thought you were just asking about those plugs. As Rocker stated in order to get the surround sound you need the multiple outputs so yes a card would be needed for true surround sound.
Well those have only one plug and would probably be just really nice earbuds. I have friends who bought surround sound earphones and they say its ok at best, doubt those are any better.

I have had reservations myself about getting an ATI card as it does seem to...
If you get a good motherboard you dont need that audigy card, the onboard sound is supporting 8.1(on the SLI boards) and has the same quality as an audigy. Only reason you would need to get on is just so you can say I have an audigy.
I have a A7N8X deluxe board and use the onboard sound and...
You talking about making a virtual drive? If so try alcohol 120, its what I use. It has a feature where you can make up a drive and run the exe file so you dont have to use a cd.
Yea I always go to the manufacturer's site for every component and d/l the drivers they have, seems to help alot. I dont do 3dmark but an easy example is when I go to NEC and use thier drivers the options increase dramically for refresh rate and resolution.
