I was just wondering if my Episode two is running right. In the two previous Half-Life games (Half-Life 2 and Episode One) there was small notification box in the top left corner of the menu screen saying that game ran in 64-bit mode. In episode two i cant see that box. Not so that it would be anyhow very important but i've noticed that in episode two loading times (quick load and the normal one) are significally longer and have some sound bug like a broken music cd repeating some sound loop during load times. Does anybody else have noticed that? Thx in andvance.

Dunno, only steam game iv got on box is hl2 :D rest are all on the account...

And, my loading times have gotten longer as the series goes on, Hl1 instantly, Hl2 normal, ep1 a bit more, and ep2 insanley long, portal works well and so does tf2

I don't think there's an 64 bit version of the Source 2007 Engine yet. Episode 1 and HL2 still use the old engine which has a 64 bit version.

There was a 64 bit version which was pulled for tweaking, I believe.

There isn't a 64 bit version of Episode 2 out yet unfortunately. I've been running 64 bit vista for a while now and while it's starting to finally catch on with consumers, software developers are still quite slow at adopting 64 bit versions of their programs.

Wat is 64-Bit anyway...theres 32-bit aswell right?
Its something to do with processors right?

64 & 32 bits are types of length of instruction witch processor is using to work.
64 bits processors works with 64bits 32bits instructions
32 -------------||------------32bits instructions

Yes. Microsoft Windows XP and Vista come in both 32-bit and 64-bit versions. All AMD and Intel CPU's can run 32-bit operating systems with 32-bit software but only certain AMD and Intel processors can run 64-bit operating systems. 64-bit windows can run both 32-bit and 64-bit programs, but runs the 64-bit variety faster than a 32-bit operating system can run 32-bit software.

64-bit operating systems and applications are the future and are only beginning to become widely used since they allow for not only better performance, but can also properly allocate addresses for more than 3.2gb of RAM. Most people that are running 64-bit windows do so because they need to run more than the standard 2gb most 32-bit users run. I'm running 4gb of ram right now but have used a full 8gb a few weeks ago. But since only a few programs use more than 2gb of ram, i felt the 8gb was useless for now and i'm sticking with 4gb for the time being.

^That's tru.dat
XP with 4gigs work slower than with 3gigs of RAM
