I have a leadtek 6800gt, A64 3200+ and 2x 512mb Kingmax DDR400 RAM. During rapid movement i get thin horizontal white lines appearing at each side of the screen. This is noticeable in games, but is most noticeable when scrolling left to right rapidly in a program. They only appear during rapid movement. My temps are fine (CPU 30, Case 27, graphics core 45 idle, 59C load). Wondering if it could be the RAM?

did u dl the new nvidia drivers it seems ppl are having problems with them

ive got the 71.89s, but i like them cos they fixed that annoying temperature problem with the 71.84s. Are there any newer than 71.89?

When you are playing a game at a higher frame rate than teh monitor can handle, eg. if your monitor can handle 70fps at 1280by1024 and you are getting say 120fps, the screen breaks up when you move teh mouse quickly. I found that this was happening in CS:S alot so I enabled V-Sync in the graphics options and this limited my frame rate to the maximum that my monitor could handle at the given resolution, in my case it was 60fps. The screen doesn't break up anymore and the gameplay is fine as it runs constantly at 60fps.

Yeah i get the tearing, i know that vsync can solve it, but want the max frames i can get for online bf:v. Could these thin white lines be part of the tearing, or a problem with my screen?

hmm probably the tearing. Only thing you could try would be to enable vsync and see what sort of effect it has on the fps.

I have seen this problem before but I forget how it was solved. The computer i saw had thin white lines that scrolled across the monitor as the mouse was moved regardless of the program. I would say update your drivers and make sure nothing is overclocked or overheating. Open the side of your case while you play to see if anything happens. This would decide if it was overheating. Also underclocking your videocard could check for the problem better.

Yeah, my temps are just fine though- the lowest temps ive seen on any of my 6800gts. (ive had a few replacements!) Also i only notice it on bf:v at the moment, probably cos that's the only fastish game ive got on here at the mo. Nothing in Rome Total War.
These are quite minor white lines, its just annoying.

btw: where are these 76.xx nvidia drivers- can't find them- the latest i could find is the 71.89, which is what im running.

The 76.xx are in beta, they're not worth it just yet. You should try the 66.93 or 67.03(71.84 drivers are basically a lower quality version of 71.89 drivers).
