A Series of Gameplay Questions...

I decided I would rather subject myself to the possibility of being flamed rather than continue using the Search feature to no avail...

Let the games begin...

1. Will we have the ability to drag/pick up ALL physical objects INCLUDING dead bodies (To stack them, for instance :devil: )? Or will Gordon just be able to pick up pre-designated objects?

2. I know this has been discussed, but would it be possible to mod Half-Life 2 so that we could use the Manipulator to pick up dead bodies and fling them at enemies... or use as shields?

3. What's the word on that impact animation blending bologna? Will enemies flinch when you hit them? 'Cause that would pwnz0rz.

4. How about limping when you shoot an enemy ala Rogue Spear? (I don't expect it, just wondering).

5. Will there be water drops on the HUD after Gordon comes up from the water ala Metroid Prime? (He IS wearing a helmet after all... right?)

6. Will shooting a Combine soldier in the head do more damage than shooting him in... say... his foot?

7. Can I knock a Combine soldier down and then drop a refrigerator on his legs so he can't move!?!? LOLZZ Hahaha :| Seriously, can I?

I apologize if some of these questions have been discussed to death. Be kind, because you might just hurt my feelings over teh Interweb.

It wont pick up dead bodies with the minipulator, but you could mod it so you could. But pretty much everything unorgantic can be minipulated.

You can pick up everything exsept for people (living) and non physics stuff

you could do it, in a mod :p

yes, it did that in Hl1 it would be RETARTED not to.

1.A: Everything but dead bodies, but you could mod it in

2.A: You could mod it

3.A: Animation Blending you mean? Its been said in the Valve thread that the combine will flinch after being shot a number of times or whatever.

4.A: Don't know

5.A: No he isnt wearing a helmet so i wouldn't expect that

6.A: Yes.

7.A: That would most likely register as a kill in the game, rather then immobilizing him
 
As for the first question, I remember in one of the first videos to be released from e3, the tech demo had the player flinging a dead body around with the manipulator gun, but I don't know if it was just for that demo or if it was a gameplay demonstration.

During actual gameplay, a large number pre-designated objects can be picked up with the manipulator (including boxes, barrels, grenades, cans, cabinets, guns, matresses, etc.), but that doesn't include dead bodies (they used a dead body to show the ragdoll effects in the 2003 E3 demo though, so it can probably be modded in.)

Umm...ragdoll maybe? I really don't know. I don't really notice combine guys flinching in the Binks, maybe I have to just look closer. But if they don't flinch, "you could easily mod it."

If you mean if the enemy limps when he's shot in the foot, I don't think so. But again, if not "it can be modded in."

Actually in HL2 I don't think he's wearing a helmet. There aren't any reflections of him in-game for me to confirm this, but in all the concept art he just has the suit and no helmet. The water drops on the screen "can be modded in" though.

Yes. It would be really sad if it didn't.

Don't think so. "You can probably mod it" to do that though. :)
 
Didn't one of the new reviews mention picking up dead bodies?

Also, I'm pretty sure one of the zombies in the E3 2004 trailer flinches when hit by a barrel.

And I reckon Gordon would be silly not to wear a helmet in a warzone like City17. I'd say the only reason that you don't see it in the artwork is the recognition factor... "Hey, there's Gordon!"...
 
with the more powerfull physgun (blue beam) u can pick up dead bodies.
 
Yeah, but that was supposedly just for the E3 demo last year. Greg Coomer said it wouldn't be in the game.

Someone at another forum said it'd been put in recently (which is silly, IMO, because it'd mean that VALVe would have to re-balance the game), but there's been no more mention of that recently, so I'm pretty sure that was BS.
 
I have a gameplay q: Do you think we will get to see more of the G-man compared to HL? IE; will we see him speak in the beginning and at the end and then nothing more?

BTW, do you think they will release a mod with the demo levels from the E3 2003? Coz that would be kinda fun to go through.
