Additional HL2 info?

Alright well ive beaten hl2, and hl1 but still have some overall questions about the game itself.
1) In the beggining of HL1 where Gordon is in the test chamber. When that thing breaks does it open some sort of portal for the hive to enter?
2) At what point did the soldiers in blue mesa or whatever turn into the combine soldiers? MIdway between hl1 and hl2?
3)Was dr.breen in hl1 where was he?
4) in hl2 those aliens are helpful to you by putting guns on your boat, why are they helpful, when in hl1 they were trying to kill you?


COMMENT about Gman: I dont know the specific facts but has anyone else in the game ever mentioned him? Alyx doesnt, yet the aliens i think know about him... He must be on some sort of level with them.

There is no hive, but it does break open a portal to Xen, and that is where the aliens come from. It's also the home of gay jumping puzzles.

Listen for the scientists to mention the "Administrator". That is Breen.

They joined your side, and are now serving the Gman (most likely, still speculation).

actually for #4, in HL1 when you killed the nihilanth, you freed them from their slavery. that is why they refer to you and eli vance as the liberators
