After The Install?

After you have installed Steam (Over HL and the older Steam) Is it safe to deleted everything out of the old folders? Anyone tried?

My situation is this,

X:\Games\Steam\ < Non beta steam
X:\Games\HalfLife\ < Half Life
Y:\Steam\Steam\ < Steam Beta

The new install of Steam messed up my Half Life folder, It looks like it went in their and dropped a bomb

So, my question is, can I go on a deleting rampage and get rid of my old HL folder and old Steam beta folder?

My answer is simple:

NO!! (at least not the HL folder).

yeah steam did a fubar on my folder too, i can't even open any of my games; hl/op4/BL/CS, it ****ing sucks....and i was being positve about steam before...
