Aftermath just doesn't appeal to me

valve has specifically said that there will not be a half life 3. the add ons will be it.

i think they said this in an interview with edge magazine, or maybe it was somewhere else..

Haha, no they have not said that. Anywhere.

Half-Life 2: Aftermath appeals to me because it expands on Half-Life 2, hence the name Expansion Pack. I just hope that it's released on Steam before EA does because which ever comes first I'll buy but I'd rather have the Steam one due to the gayness of EA, I guess what I'm trying to say is "EA sucks my balls."

Why will I get the EA one if it comes out before the Steam one? Because some 1337 hax0rz kid is going to post spoilers everywhere or some moron will be tell me spoilers at school.

Can you use a debit card over steam or do you need a credit card?

Currently they dont take Debit cards but in an interview recently, one of the guys behind steam said they were looking into taking cards such as Switch aswell as paypal for steam payments. I just hope they do this buy the time Aftermath comes out.

I'm a huge HL fan, from day one I love it and the hype upto the next HL2 was amazing and so the game showed.

But Aftermath is different I feel it is just a commercial drive for Valve producing it, little media release or advertisement, no community bulge of excitement.

The only thing that wants me to buy it is for the story, the gameplay just looks like a few modders came together and finished the job. I really hope Valve have planned the story and not done a dive of giving what they can to save a product lifecycle.

Does anyone else feel the same? Am I missing something?
Same here.

I haven't even checked out any info on Aftermath since I simply don't care. The screenshots are underwhelming and look just like HL2, but not as good.

...there just screenshots! dont judge it until u acutally play it! it wont be aslong as hl2 but will have more scripted events , better a.i(i think) , more eneimes, more story which every hl fan wants

Hmm...so far Half-Life series and Valve Software hasn't dissapointed so I say we should just relax and calm down and play this baby when it releases. Probably the best thing to say in this situation.

Valve has clearly been showing under whelming screenshots in an effort to disguise the new content, such as enemies and weapons. You see because last time they showed alot of trailers and screenshots, people pissed and moaned that they revealed too much and the core experience of hl2 was ruined.

If it doesn't interest you, so be it, you'll just have to not play it.

He's got a point ya know, we pretty much knew nearly every single enemy and character in the game before it came out. Be better if these new enemies were a surprise (even though we know the stalkers will be included, I'm sure they will have more than one new enemy)

Even better if they were lying about the whole thing and came out with Op4 2.

:D

I haven't been disappointed with a Valve game yet and don't plan to. Half-Life was great and so was its expansions, even Blue Shift :P (go barney!). This is the Half-Life 2 expansion, it's going to continue with the actually story here, the one you hear so much about. Don't compare Aftermath to some crappy single player mod that somehow tries to fit their story with the real thing because this is official people!

Hunh. It's opinion I guess... I myself think AFtermath looks better than HL2 'cause of the atmosphere, but whatever.

I've summed up my thoughts of my topic.

Considering how long this has been under production, it must be good and knowing Valve, they won't let us down.

I'm loving the suspense between HL2 & Aftermath, it wouldn't feel the same if it came out a few months after HL2... can't explain it, just after time you start to enjoy games more if you havn't played them for a while.
