Played and beat HL2 for the 4th time today. I got a crazy idea. Breen hired Gordon to attack the combine on Earth and allow him to gain a bargaining position with the combine, so that he could control them in a way. You see, the combine would've been afraid of Gordon, and so Breen would've captured Gordon, and been like, "give me what I want, or I let him go free!". Why do I say this? Because of the line Breen says, when your in his office. "Now that I have you, I'm in the position to make any bargain I want with the combine."

Now it is possible, that he's just talking about what reward the combine will give him for capturing Gordon, Alyx and Eli, but I'm more inclined to think he's using Gordon as a tool to gain power. Which makes Breen more evil. He sells out, enslaves, exterminates, and subjugated humanity, and then attempts to use the last chance for humanity as a tool to gain power?? Pretty f----- cold.

No, no, no. Breen couldn't possibly be stupid enough to think that the Combine would actually give him real power. This is just, I don't even know.
Actually, Breen does seem to think he is important, but still, no.

so this is why i dont view this forum lol

Breen is really Gordon's transvestite mother. Just a theory.

This had occurred to me, actually, but I dismissed it almost instantly. If Breen had hired you, he would have no need to try and bargain with you at the end. Well, he might need to persuade you to fight against your own interest from then on, but if Breen had hired Gordon and had been so clever about it that he had Gordon believing all along that he was fighting for himself, then Breen wouldn't have been without a fallback plan at the end when Gordon gets to the citadel. He wouldn't just have been relying on "nothing for it, I'm just going to have to win Freeman over from here...!"...

well, to sum it up....just, no.
