amd 3400+ or intel 3.0 ghz+HP

which is better? i dont know much about pcs and i could really use some help. most people on this board tend to prefer amd processors, but is that because it is better for gaming or is it just better overall. i am not a hardcore pc gamer, and i just wanted to know which was better for everyday use and which is better for halflife 2? thanks in advance :cheers:

also just curious why the amd has 2.2 ghz and the intel has 3? :afro:

without doubt the 3400+ is faster.

Mhz isn't everything when it comes to performance. ;-)

The AMD 3400+ is even better than a P4 3,4GHz. Especially when it comes to gaming. I'm definately going for AMD next time I upgrade, unless intel has taken back the gaming cpu throne.

Intel's truck can go 300MPH and can haul 6 tons of dirt.
AMD's truck can go 200MPH and can haul 9 tons of dirt.
300*6=1800 tons of dirt
200*9=1800 tons of dirt

Intel is just persuaing people with high clock speeds which don't meaen jack, that's why AMD has assigned the name *2400+* *3200+* to their processors, since its similiar to a 2.4 ghz or 3.2ghz processor made by Intel, which is kind of misleading, so when AMD comes out with the 3ghz 64 processor, that'll e KICKING ASS! go AMD, really good processors
