I'd have to agree with numbers that the chances of students wrestling the soldiers to the ground, take their rifles, and go on a rampage is pretty low.

However, seeing guns around every corner isn't going to make me feel one bit safer.

Man, nothing compared to Port Arthur. Still horrible though
