have fun paying.

It's funny that people say this kind of crap when it's really not much of an issue if you... oh, I dunno... have a ****ing income of some sort.

Not saying it's an issue, but it's still money, money going into a game every month when other games don't need this.

Calm down man, it's clear that you're sick of people saying that so don't let yourself go out of control just because you hear it too much :D

It's also a very different kind of game, so comparisons are kind of pointless. The amount of time and energy that needs to go into maintaining and updating a large, constant online world requires a fee. Me? I've got a piss easy menial job and I can fully cover my fees. I spend more money buying chips and cigarettes on a weekend.

I'm calm, really. It's just that the alcohol I've ingested within the last few hours is bringing my true feelings to the forefront much quicker. =\

Please stop bringing up the fact that you drink :(

What about Guildwars? They don't have a monthly fee... Same type of game...

(I stay the hell away from MMO's whether free or not, so don't blame me if I don't know how this stuff works :D)

@Thesomeone: Well, then I guess I'm glad I'm the person who enjoys free experiences, and gets utterly bored with the ones that just happen to have a fee! :D

I see where Absinthe is coming from, because other games aren't World of Warcraft. You can't compare prices for different experiences whether better or worse.

And GUILD Wars is not an MMO, it's something else I forget. Even if it was, they're two different games, the type doesn't matter. You want to play World of Warcraft, you want to play this game, you don't have an alternative...

Woah at backwards conversations , I almost missed it. :D

I see your point, but in spite of its monthly fee, World of Warcraft is one of the most popular games on the planet, surely that counts for something.

Guild Wars is an MMO i'm 90 percent sure... But I said that because Absinthe brought up the reason for fees is because of server costs... Yet Guildwars has servers they have to maintain also...

Edit: Popular != Good

IMO it's only popular and "good" because... Well the very nature of an MMO. The desire to get that next level, to find that awesome item, you just get addicted. (Not necessarily literally addicted, but I think you know what I mean)

'Tis the tr00f.

Guild Wars uses a different system. As far as I know (from my acquired internet knowledge and playing it on my bro's computer), the only places where all players are connected are the towns. When you actually go into the world and face enemies, it depends on instances. For instance, if you want to play with other people, they need to be grouped with you before you go into instanced territory. You do not encounter other players when in an instance unless they've already grouped with you.

In games like WoW, with constant worlds, it is truly populated with thousands of other players (aside dungeons, in which the grouping rules also apply).

Meh, I dunno if I'm making much sense. But I'm sure you can read up the differences somewhere. They really are quite different if you've played them both. Guild Wars doesn't need a fee because it doesn't require the same kind of constant attention that a WoW server needs.

It's not an MMO, that's what makes the huge difference. In an MMO, you are constantly connected to the same server-cluster, which needs constant care and reperation. In Guild Wars, ever place is a different server cluster. It's self labeled as a CORPG, (Competitive Online Role-Playing Game). It's much more similar to Diablo than to World of Warcraft in terms of the price it takes the developers to keep it up.

Yeah, he said it better than me. The only MMO aspect to Guild Wars is when you're looking for other people to play with you.
