Does anyone else really like Arcade Fire? Their songs and lyrics trigger strong sentiments that only a few bands can. One of the few talented new bands in my opinion.

Some of their stuff is retro-ish sounding. A lot of their lyrics are french in random parts of their songs, often their translations give me chills. Haiti and Wake up are two of my favorite songs by them.

I'm a big fan of Arcade Fire, but a lot of their songs are just too abstract for me to enjoy. I celebrate the fact that they're exploring music in forms not commonly used, but it can be downright unenjoyable for me.

hmm, in what way is it too abstract for you? maybe i just don't understand because i am someone who is heavily into the abstract...

I love them.

Funeral is much better than Neon Bible though.

Absolutely. They have three CD's right? I have three of there CD's I just can't recall what the other is called, maybe it's a self titled. I recall it being good as well.

Took me a while to get into Neon Bible, there's a few good songs on there like Black Wave/Bad Vibrations, Ocean of Noise are good. Windowsill is really good. AntiChrist Television Blues, Keep The Car Running, Black Mirror are alright. But I really, really, dislike the song Neon Bible.

Oh my god. The Arcade Fire are absolutely amazing. Funeral's such an incredible CD :D

they're alright. i think i'm growing out of them though. they have a couple of decent songs like rebellion, power out, my body is a cage and keep the car running. i used to really like them but i've just ...got bored of them i suppose

Couldn't really get in to them, to be honest. That said, I haven't gotten around to listening to Neon Bible but from what I've heard I wasn't that impressed.

I dived into Funeral expecting stuff a long the lines of the actual song Power Out, but the rest of the album just did nothing to me. A really bad anti-climax for me.

EDIT: Just listening to Power Out now actually, not heard it in a while. What a song... :(

Absolutely yes.

Actually I think I may have started this forum's first ever Arcade Fire thread. Funeral just blew me away when I first listened to it and it still does.

I really like Neon Bible but I think it suffers from a sense of overweight, even crassness (compartively speakin, obviously). I think it's the whole overblown church organ/american open highway thing. Thematically overcoded.

Rebellion is a TUNE, as well as Power Out and Laika.

That is a really good way to describe Neon Bible, I couldn't really put the words to it. Still a good CD though. Thought Black Wave/Bad Vibrations had a depressingly epic feel to it.

Side note, I think it's kind of goofy how people were "let down" by Arcade Fire because they were expecting more of the songs to be like Power Out. It's a good song, but I just don't like when people hear a good song from a band and then go and expect the entire CD to be like that song. If they were all that same style I would have been very bored of the CD.

Not exactly in the same sound as Power Out, but the same quirky, upbeat and energetic style that really gives that song it's kick. The rest of the album just bored me flat.
