Avalon is a multiplayer, squad-based, sci-fi total conversion for Half-Life 2. We aim to bring squad centred multiplayer action to the Source engine. Set 350 years in the future on a distant planet, Avalon features a tactical point capture-type gameplay with a couple of twists.

Alot of people have asked to know more about our actual gameplay, so here is a short description:
We plan to use a primary and secondary point capture system, whereby players will have to capture certain points before the other points become available for capture. For example, players will first have to capture a power converter station before being able to capture power sources. Capturing points is skill and teamwork based - a hacker class player must hack the control panel of a point, while his squad and team mates defend him. Without giving too much away, hacking will be a screen-based logic puzzle, and not your ordinary loading-bar type stuff. Hopefully this will add a skill element to the capturing process. Also, individual facilities such as emplacement guns, ammo/health/armour dispensers, and vehicle spawns can be hacked individually.

Our story is avaliable here.
Some concept work is available here:

Because we plan to implement vehicles, scaled maps, and other innovations into the Source engine, we are seeking additional C++ coders to help build our rapid prototype, which we will test for gameplay thoroughly. Our team already consists of 1 talented coder, 1 character animator, 2 artists and 2 sound designers.

As a C++ coder, you will be responsible for building our games features into our mod, starting with the base HL2 Deathmatch code, along with our current coder. A knowledge of the Source SDK is not necessary (although very useful), as our current coder is very happy to help you learn the SDK. What is very important is a sound knowledge of C++.

Coders must:

- Have a good knowledge of C++
- Be dedicated to the team and tasks, and be active in the community
- Be able to work with others well
- Knowledge of Linux compiling a huge plus
- Knowledge of large player-count and vehicle netcode a huge plus
- Knowledge of particle effects a big plus

To apply please send us a short profile of yourself and any example of you past work (either in the Source engine or in other c++ applications) by emailing me here: [email protected]

Thanks
