I've read quite a few posts from those disappointed in the ending. Well, personally, I thought it was great. I felt it was very theatrical, done as well as most movies would have. If I was to voice any disappointment at all, it would only be that its now over. The game was fairly short (although I did spend well over the 17 hours many claim), but well, perfection doesn't require a set time.
Overall, the game ran extremely well on my system, with only one small bug discovered. I had been playing around with FarCry before this, and I was getting really sick of 3-4 minute loads with a 5 minute wait after I click on 'quit'. HL2 never took over 30 seconds to load a level, with most being around 10 secs. And my system is _not_ high end, even though I played with maximum everything.
I've heard of many things cut from the E3 demo, but hey this is Valve, the same guys who love to toss us free (usually) addons a few months down the road. I'm pretty confident I'll still get to see that ship somewhere, sometime.
Gman is great too. If his story had been fully explained as others have ranted about, it would have lost everything. Mystery's are only that, when they remain unexplained. Too many TV shows these days answer everything within the first season spoiling it all.
Steam bummed me out for awhile, but then I read Gabe's reasoning somewhere, mainly about how the profit is 3-4x what it would be with retail only. Hey, this team deserves it, and I'm happy to help out.
Thanks Valve! I eagerly await your next presentation, but first take plenty of time off and recoup
