Is there some sort of bank you can put your crap into? I'm carrying around this Grand Champion rainment and I'm always over-emcumbered.

Hmmm, in morrowind I had many houses.

I aquired them upon the "unfortunate" death of the homeowners.

I would display shit-loads of Uber gear on the shelves and inside chests in the house. The big chests hold alot of stuff.

Can you still just take over a house and drop your gear there (in Oblivion)?

****SPOILER****

in the city that starts with a 'B' (the thieves guild members should know what im talking about, the place where you fence your items) you talk to the countess and bribe her till she sells you the house for 10k

I just got offered a house in Anvil for 5K. I don't even have one K yet .....

Some dude in the inn. I overheared some people and then I got a message I was on a quest to buy a house.

I heard at Anvil you can do a quest to get a free house?

If you put your items in a container do they disappear after a while as in Morrowind? Or should I play it safe and dump my things on the floor?

I would put things on the floor to be safe - I believe it says in the manual to not place items in chests - which can be rather annoying when managing smaller items.

Apparently the Xbox version is restricted, to placing alot of objects.

So long as you own the chest, your items will stay there.

In Leyawiin there's a house for sale at 7k. I think i'll buy it pretty soon. I have like nothing to do with my money. 20k just begging to be spent.

Gah, so there I am, carrying a whole grocery store with me, because I wanted to play with alchemy later on and not have to buy the ingredients at over 100% price.

If you have a alchemy character trait you can start right away. Just make sure you have a mortar and pestle. Making your own potions and poisons is cool. You can even name, so you can for example make Unfocused's potion of Focus. Sounds pretty cool! ;)

Cool name :D

Yes, I've got the mortar and pestle but just didn't feel like experimenting atm :) Oh, and can you poison your blade (I think I read somewhere that you can)? Is it poisoned for one slash or longer?

Yes, you poison your blade or arrows by clicking on the poison. It has only one charge tho, but that doesn't really matter since most poisons do damage over time.

Hm, so can I store items in chests that have the normal hand icon (instead of the red one, indicating that whatever you take will be considered stolen)? For example I "eliminated" an NPC during a quest, and his house is unoccupied, so can I store my things in there without the risk of them disappearing?

Or once in the Watersomething section of the city, I entered the pirate ship and the pirates attacked me. It seems it was illegal for them to attack me, cause the guard helped me kill them. When I entered the ship I could use everything without stealing it. I could also sleep in the beds. Does that mean I can store my stuff there?

It would be nice to have a word from Bethesda about this. I have some stuff I'd like to keep but not carry around with me (like a a Steel Longsword which is a visually beutiful weapon; too bad I'll probbaly use a Silver Longsword which is better, but nowhere as good looking).

In the manual it says in bold text that if you put it in chests/cabinets you don't own, they can dissapear. So I don't know.

I'm guessing when you buy a house, the chests don't respawn any items in them but with NPCs houses they do even if they are dead, I think.
